Tuileries pond

Pond and fountain in the Tuileries Garden, the big public garden next to the Louvre. The name comes from the old tile-making factories of the area where Catherine de Médicis had a palace and fancy garden built in 1564. The garden was redesigned and rebuilt many times over the years with the whims of monarchs and various revolutions. The palace was burned by the Paris Commune in 1871, finally torn down in 1883.
