White-crowned Sparrow

It was just sitting there, close to the bushes but out in the open, which seemed very unusual behaviour. These guys are ground nesters, and love the hedges and bushes in this neighbourhood, so I wonder if this one is sitting on eggs? It would be super late in the season, so I don’t know.
