Names of the dead

The Pinkas Synagogue contains a memorial to the Jewish Bohemian and Moravian victims of the Shoah. This is only one small fraction of the 78,000 names.

The memorial dates to 1960, but has had a difficult life. Closed in 1968 by the Communist regime and neglected for decades, then hit by several floods, it had to be restored at least twice.
