Shy Virginia Rail

I wasn’t even planning this shot: I stood by one of the little side ponds hoping to shoot warblers, perfectly still — and that’s what gave this timid little bird the opening. Even so, I didn’t get a clear shot: a bit of movement out of the corner of my eye, too quick to photograph, then it moved deeper into the reeds. Still, I’m quite happy with this shot!
