Brussels City Hall belfry

Our first glimpse of Brussels City Hall, its belfry and main square (“grand-place”). Belfries are civic monuments put up by city governments, not churches. They’re made to be similarly tall and imposing, ring the hours, and placed at the center of cities overlooking town squares.
