Though this was a big-shot palace, the decor isn’t nearly as distracting as, say, the Louvre. For example, they removed tapestries and screens and such, and repainted the walls of each room a single uniform colour to best set off the art. It’s very possible there have been other choices in the last 300 years, like painting over stucco’d ceilings.
But some things have remained, such as the ceiling of the Antechamber to the Conference Room. Created by Baroque artist Giacomo del Pò, it glorifies Prince Eugene of Savoy (the palace’s original owner) as a super-cool heroic figure banishing evil just by his virtue and awesomeness.
