Falling Leaves
In the Belvedere, a princely palace in the city turned into an art museum. Here’s Olga Wisinger-Florian’s 1899 “Falling Leaves” (Fallendes Laub). According to the accompanying plaque, the artist began a career as a concert pianist before turning to painting in her late 30s. This painting shows a scene from the Vienna Woods, a popular spot for day trippers. At its first exhibition, “Falling Leaves” wowed so much that it was immediately snapped up by the Imperial Picture Gallery.
