Hverfjall

A great view of Hverfjall, last erupted 2,500 years ago. It’s just one of many volcanoes and fissures in a region that defies easy description: some parts are super flat, with lone volcanoes sticking out like sore thumbs. Some parts are covered in volcanic rock, cooled in all sorts of weird shapes. Some parts have the remains of flash floods caused by volcanoes erupting under a glacier, events that can carve out new river valleys in days and throw around multiton boulders like they were marbles. It’s a chaotic, alien landscape that is constantly reinventing itself.
