Île aux Cygnes

Just to the south of the tower is Île aux Cygnes (“Isle of Swans”). Two bridges connect to it at both ends: Pont de Bir-Hakeim (closest) and Pont de Grenelle. What crosses it in the middle is a branch of the RER (Réseau Express Régional, or “Regional Express Network,” a commuter train system connecting much of Île-de-France to Paris) line C. That particular branch loops back north, ending in Pontoise at the northwestern edge of the suburbs.
