Mont Saint-Michel, far away

Our first look at Le Mont Saint-Michel! I’m told we visited here in ’79, but I honestly don’t have any memories of it. Or if I do, they’re hopelessly mixed up with all the stuff I’ve read and all the photos I’ve seen, so they’re not very useful.

Used to be, cars and tour buses could drive right up to the town. But the causeway interfered with the tides and led to silting up of the bay. The new raised bridge only takes pedestrians, cyclists, and special shuttle buses that start from a big parking lot 1km south.
