White-throated Sparrow, tan morph
Still on my quest to get a decent picture of a white-throat, so please excuse the motion blur and the so-so light.
I’d heard at least one adult White-throated Sparrow was hanging around this area, and sharp-eyed observers may notice its head stripes look duller than those of the other adults I’ve shot. Turns out white-throats come in two colour morphs: white-striped (sharp black and white head) and tan-striped (more brown / beige, like this one).
Fun facts: the two morphs are distributed about 50/50, and potential mates tend to pick from the opposite morph for some reason.
